Keeper is a password management tool replacing LastPass. LastPass users will be notified via email when they are scheduled to be migrated to Keeper.

Access Keeper

Keeper can be accessed through a desktop client or online through the Web Vault.

  • Web Vault: Go to the Web Vault log in page and sign in using your email address. You will be redirected to enter your WVU Login credentials and prompted to authenticate with Duo.

  • Desktop client: Download the Keeper desktop client. When you first log in, the client will prompt to verify your machine. You can use a Keeper push, which sends the approval to your Web Vault.
During setup, you can skip the beginning prompts, including the prompt for setting up two-factor authentication. Duo two-factor authentication is already applied to your Keeper account since it uses WVU Login credentials.

Migration from LastPass to Keeper

Most credentials and folders stored in LastPass will be automatically migrated to Keeper; however, some personal or non-shared folders may not be included and must be moved manually.

  • File attachments like SSH keys are not automatically migrated and must be moved manually.

  • Shared folders were moved on Friday, March 17th. If you made a change to a shared folder after that date you will need to manually move it again.

  • Once you migrate to Keeper, immediately stop using LastPass or your folders will be out of sync.

If you encounter a “mobilestricted” error, click Disable in the Mobile Devices setting of LastPass.

Manually move files from LastPass to Keeper

If you are missing credentials in Keeper after the migration, follow these steps:

  1. First, ensure you have the Keeper desktop client installed and log in to the client.
Note: If this is your first time logging into the Keeper client, you will be prompted to verify your machine. You can use a Keeper push, which sends the approval to your Web Vault. During setup, you can skip the beginning prompts, including the prompt for setting up two-factor authentication. Duo two-factor authentication is already applied to your Keeper account since it uses WVU Login credentials.

  2. Click on your account email in the upper right-hand corner.

  3. Click Settings then Import.

  4. Choose LastPass.

  5. Enter your LastPass email and password. If you’re prompted to enter a one-time code, open your Duo app and select Show next to the 6-digit passcode.

  6. Click Next.
Note: If you select Include shared folders you may get duplicates of the shared folders already imported.

  7. Review the import and map fields if needed. If you intend to share all first-level folders, check the box Import Root Level Folders as Shared. By selecting this option, all first-level folders will become shared.

  8. Click Import.
