Autodesk offers a comprehensive line of design software for engineers, architects, and designers such as AutoCad, Revit and Maya. Autodesk offers free software for educators and students through the Autodesk Education Community page.

Autodesk Education Community is a flexible program that allows schools to stay current with Autodesk's most popular software.

Licensing restrictions

Autodesk provides free software available to the Education Community. This software can only be used by current faculty and students of WVU for educational purposes. If Autodesk is needed for non-educational purposes, see the “How to order” section below for instructions.

Eligibility

Faculty can obtain the software free of charge for 36 months if being used for Educational purposes. If the software is needed longer than 36 months, contact SLIC by filling out a software assistance request using the SLIC Software Request Form when it is set to expire. If the software is needed for non-educational purposes, see the “How to order” section below. This software can be installed on a WVU-owned computer or a personal computer.

Staff can obtain non-educational Autodesk software (see the “How to order” section below).  

Students can obtain Autodesk software for 36 months free of charge by joining the Autodesk Education Community. If the software is needed longer than 36 months, contact SLIC by filling out a software assistance request using the SLIC Software Request Form when it is set to expire.

How to order

Educational purposes: 

Educational license information can be found at the d the Autodesk for Education can visit the Autodesk Education Community page. To download and install this software you will need to set up an Autodesk account using your WVU email.

Faculty who need this software installed in a lab setting can contact SLIC by filling out a software assistance request using the SLIC Software Request Form.

Non-educational purposes: 

WVU Employees who need non-educational Autodesk Licenses can complete the IT Purchase Request Form. You will need to get a quote from the vendor and once you receive the approval you can work with your Strategic Buisness Advisor (SBA) to complete the purchase. You can contact SLIC by filling out a software assistance request using the SLIC Software Request Form.

Pricing

The cost of the Autodesk software for Education is free to current WVU faculty and students who are using if for educational purposes. The cost of non-educational Autodesk software can vary based on the individual software needs. See the How to Order section above for more information.
