The Time & Money document is a convenient place to view both the hierarchy of an award structure, and details for each award task. Click the Time & Money button in the award document view to see the hierarchy of the award (the main award and the award tasks associated with it), transactions from MAP to establish or adjust award task allocations, and a summary of details for all award tasks that are part of the award.

Open the Time & Money Document

  1. First, open the award record in WVU+kc:

    1. From your WVU+kc researcher dashboard, click the View link next to a listed award, or…

      Click the view record icon.

    2. click Search Award in the WVU+kc dashboard Awards menu, then click the view link for the award in the search results.

      Or click Search Award in the menu to find an award.

  2. Click the Time & Money button at the top of the Award document, to open a new Kuali page.

You can return to the main Awards document by clicking the return to award button.

Document Overview Section

The Document Overview section displays a Description that includes the originating OSP number for the Time and Money document, and any other Originating Document Number that is associated with the award(s).

Award Hierarchy Section

In the Award Hierarchy section, you can see the parent award with financial dates and details, and the option to expand the list to view more. When you expand all nodes of the award, you can also see budget information broken down for each task that is part of the award.

  • Click the folder icon to expand the award’s children (sub-awards).

  • Click the plus (+) or minus (-) to Expand All awards or Collapse All awards.

The default Totals view includes columns that show:

  • Award Budget Start and End dates.

  • Project End Date

  • Budget Direct, F&A, and Total award or task allocations

  • Anticipated Direct, F&A, and Total award or task allocations

Change the view options in the header area of this section to change which details are visible.

  • In the Go To menu, choose which node of the award hierarch to view. Click Go to refresh the data.

  • Select whether current or pending transaction values are displayed by clicking the corresponding radio button.

  • Choose which columns to display by selecting from the drop-down: Dates Only, Distributed/Distributable, or Totals (the default view).

Transactions Section

The Transactions section lists all Pending transactions for the parent award or sub-awards in the hierarchy and shows the amount change to each category upon completion of that transaction.

View the following fields in the Transactions section:

  • Transaction - what was the transaction

  • Source Award - where the funds originate

  • Destination Award - where the funds were moved

  • Obligated Direct Change - amount change in obligated charges for the project resulting from this transaction

  • Obligated F&A Change - amount change in obligated Facilities & Administrative costs resulting from this transaction

  • Anticipated Direct Change - amount change expected for direct expenditure accounts resulting from this transaction

  • Anticipated F&A Change - amount of change expected for facilities and administrative cost percentage

Summary Section

Under Summary, you can view the basic descriptive details of the award in the Summary sub-section such as the award ID, the award type and status, and the title of the award. The Dates & Amounts area show the sponsor information with the project and obligation activity dates and dollar amounts. The Award Details Recorded fields show information about subawards, equipment, travel, cost share funding and other items. The Investigators subsection displays the PI and lead unit for this award hierarchy.
