Test Scanning is a free service offered to instructors that uses mark-sense scanners to grade survey, quiz and test responses recorded on NCS Pearson 30423 scantron forms. These scantrons can be purchased at WVU campus bookstores.

How do I request test scanning?

  1. Sign into the ITS Self Service Site. If your name doesn't appear in the upper-right corner of this screen, click Sign In and enter your WVU Login credentials.

  2. Go to the Test Scanning Request service page.

  3. Click  Request Test Scan and complete the online form. You will be asked which drop-off location you plan to deliver your test packet.

  4. After completing the form, click Request. You will receive a "Request Created Successfully!" message. Click View the request you just created.

  5. After clicking the link, you will see your request details. Print this page to include with your packet. This page includes a Service Request identification number necessary for your request to be processed. Failure to include the confirmation email before physically delivering your packet will result in delayed processing.

  6. Include an answer key on top of the other scantron forms. Make sure to label it as the answer key.

  7. Drop off the packet at a test scanning drop off location.

After you drop off the packet, ITS staff will process the scantrons within two business days and notify you via encrypted email when processing is complete. During Final exams week each semester, tests will be processed within 24 hours. Test scanning packets will be held for 10 business days. After that, unclaimed packets will be shredded. ITS does not have sufficient space to securely store these documents.
