  1. Click Start and type “Windows Update” in the search bar.

  2. Click Windows Update Settings from the search results.

  3. Click Check for Updates on the settings page. This will start the download and installation process.

  4. You can now minimize the Windows Update window and continue working.
    Note: The Windows Update window will read “Downloading” then change to “Installing”, but the installation will not complete until you choose to finish the process and restart your computer.

  5. You will receive a notification once the computer is ready to restart.
    Note: The notification will indicate a 7-day deadline to restart your computer and finish the installation. If you do not manually update and restart within 7 days, your computer will automatically do so on this date.

  6. The Windows Update Settings window will now recommend restarting or scheduling the restart of your computer to install Windows 11:

    Click Restart now to finish the Windows 11 update and restart your machine, or if you want to schedule the update, click Schedule the restart.
    Note: After restarting, the installation process can take up to 30 minutes to complete.

  7. If you exit the Windows Update window, the Update and restart option will be available in the shutdown/restart menu in Windows.
