Types of Research
University Research: Projects that are completed on behalf of the University and meet the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) definition of research.
Health System Research: Projects that are completed on Behalf of the Health System for a goal or purpose stated by the Health System and meet the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) definition of research.
Health System Projects that do not meet the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) definition of research. Projects such as Quality Improvement, Evidence Based Practice and Program Evaluations that are initiated by the Health System in support of a Health System goal or purpose. These These projects do not require IRB review and should be submitted to the University for review. Use Use the Human Data Protection process for determination and to obtain a Letter of Determination.

: According to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), "research" is defined as "a systematic investigation, including research development, testing, and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge". This means that any activity intended to create new knowledge that can be applied broadly is considered research under HHS regulations.
How to request a Sponsored Account for a Health System User
Log into the Sponsored Account site. You must be connected to a campus network or the GlobalProtect VPN to access this site.
Click Request New and fill out the form to submit your request.
Completes the Sponsored Account Request form:
Select WRAP as the access needed. and
Include Ming Lei as the Sponsor.
The account will expire after one year and can be renewed by the Sponsor. Automated reminders are sent to the account holder and the Sponsor.
